We are the Mattix family, Assemblies of God missionaries in the country of Paraguay.
Charley has a teaching degree from Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri. He also worked for U.P.S. for eleven years. Sherry is a registered nurse. Her area of specialty is emergency nursing. She worked at the Cox South Hospital emergency room in Springfield, Missouri as well as the Barstow Community Hospital emergency room in Barstow, CA.
In 2002, the Lord led them to leave their jobs and begin a faith journey. In 2003, the entire family crossed the border between the U.S.A. and Mexico and headed south for Puerto Escondido, Mexico. They spent four months working alongside Nic & Renee Gathers and their church, Plantio de Jehovah. Sherry worked with Laura Pratt, who runs a medical clinic at the Roca Blanca Missions base. They went up the mountains to the Mixteco Indians several times while we were there. Charley worked with the men's ministries, outreaches, home schooled the children and preached at Plantio de Jehovah.

Chaz, Chariti, Charley, Sherry, & Kaylee
Now, the Lord has led us to the country of Paraguay as fully-appointed Assemblies of God missionaries. Chariti, our oldest, feels called to children's ministry and will be able to "learn on the job" as we minister together. Kaylee is our tough one. She is ready to go hike through the jungle and swim with the cayman, anacondas, and piranhas. Chaz is our youngest and most outgoing. He will have no problem making new friends. We do not know of anyone that he will not talk to. All of the children have been filled with the Holy Spirit, and we anticipate God using each of us to reach the Guarani people in Paraguay.
